In spirit of the upcoming holiday I thought I would share a delicious candy infused snack with you. No matter what your favorite candy bar is this dessert will work for you. If you are not the biggest fans of twix bars then by all means substitute for your favorite guilty pleasure!
5 quarts plain popped popcorn
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
First go ahead and heat your oven to 250 degrees farenheit.
Set aside your popped popcorn in a large bowl to use later.
Next in a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring all ingredients to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for a few minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla extract. Pour caramel mixture in a thin stream over the popcorn. Gently stir until all of the popcorn is covered.
Place the mixed popcorn on two large shallow baking sheets and bake for about an hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove the popcorn from oven and let cool completely.
Break the popcorn into pieces and mix in chopped Twix candy bars. Drizzle the popcorn with melted chocolate. Let the popcorn sit until chocolate hardens,this should take about 30 minutes. Store your popcorn in an air tight container at room temperature.
